Teachers today are under ever increasing pressure to provide their students with informed and interesting cultural activities that represent the multi-cultural Britain of today.
Why not let us take the headache out of organizing such activities!
SB Dance provides high quality Indian dance and cultural education work in schools for children aged 3 to 18.
Indian Dance Workshops
Storytelling/Music and Movement with children ages 3 – 5
Bollywood/Bharata Natyam dance workshops with children ages 6+
Dances can be themed according to:
- Religious events (e.g. Diwali)
- Festivals of India (e.g. Holi, Baisakhi)
- Gods (e.g. Krishna, Ganesha, Rama)
- Use of props (e.g. sticks, scarves, ribbons, Indian cymbals)
- Geography (e.g. dances from North, East, South, West India)
We can also offer workshops where children are given creative tasks and produce their own dance material with the guidance of the dance professionals. These workshops tend to be more long-term and could run over several days or even weeks.
The workshops are extremely flexible and are adapted according to the children’s ability and the time and space available. Activities on the day will be integrated as much as possible with the school’s curriculum, with the input and guidance already received. If you have any themes in mind, or that you are covering in the school curriculum, please do call to discuss the options.
Our dance workshop rates for 2009 are from £45/hour. Please call for full details.
Indian Art Workshops
We also offer Rangoli artwork workshops. Rangoli is a traditional Indian artform done at Diwali using coloured sand to make images on the floor.
International / World Day
As well as dance workshops, we deliver workshops on all aspects of Indian life and culture including art, Bollywood film, fashion, food, festivals and Hinduism. For younger children we are able to run storytelling and music & movement sessions. So, if you are planning an International or World Day, we can offer you a variety of options that will give the children a taste of life in India.
